Special Purpose Machinery Projects

UHF Digital Television Antenna Manufacturing Machine

This special purpose automation machine was designed and constructed for local Hill Industries to mass produce their range of digital TV antennas.

The specification for this project was to convert a 6m length of SQ.18 Aluminium tube (Boom) and a 6m length of Dia.8 Aluminium tube (Element) into a complete Antenna supplied to an operator on a conveyor belt, where they install the electrical components onto the antenna and pack into a box. The machine is recipe driven which enables the operator to produce any size or combination of Antenna within the constraints of the process. This feature has enabled Hills Antenna to develop new Antenna designs and produce the prototypes on this machine at production speed.

Orrcon Packing Semi-Automation Line

The requirements for this process was to manually pack the tubes into various shapes as required for their customers. The tubes vary in diameter, length and shape (square, rectangular & round) and the pack configuration may be square, rectangular or hexagon. Once the pack is complete it is then driven to a buffer zone waiting to move into the strapping area. The pack then indexes through the strapping area where an operator secures the pack by adding a steel strap and timber cleats if required as the pack indexes to add the strap where required. The completed pack then transfers 90 degrees onto accumulator conveyors ready to be craned away into the warehouse.

The machine is recipe driven which enables the operator to add any new pack configurations within the constraints of the process.
